Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Centers announced on Monday that they would be distributing in-home COVID-19 testing kits.
Health officials say East Jordan Family Health Center will receive more than 5,000 home test kits to distribute during their drive-thru pick-up days in counties Antrim and Charlevoix.
They say the test supply program is part of the Biden administration’s “Path Out of the Pandemic” COVID-19 action plan, making available “free, FDA-cleared COVID-19 testing supplies.” for emergency use, for free distribution to their patients and through their communities,” according to HRSA.
Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Centers received Quidel QuickVue At-Home OTC COVID-19 tests. The tests are rapid antigen tests that someone can self-administer at home with results ready in ten minutes.
The tests, officials say, can be used if a person is symptomatic, asymptomatic or within six days of the onset of symptoms. They are recommended for people aged 14 and over.
For children 2 to 13 years old, the COVID-19 test must be administered by an adult.
The Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Center will be hosting drive-thru pick-up days for at-home COVID testing and N-95 masks.
Bellaire will offer testing on Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m., and East Jordan will offer testing on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m.
Testing will be available while supplies last and are limited to two kits per person per week.
