EASTERN JORDAN – The East Jordan Family Health Center has announced that it will receive over 5,000 home COVID-19 test kits for distribution as part of their “Drive Thru Pick Up Days” in Counties Antrim and Charlevoix.
This testing supply program is part of the Biden administration’s “Path Out of the Pandemic” COVID-19 action plan, making available “free, FDA-cleared COVID-19 testing supplies for use emergency, for free distribution to their patients and through their communities,” the Health Resources and Services Administration said.
Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Centers received Quidel QuickVue At-Home OTC COVID-19 tests. These tests are rapid antigen tests that an individual can self-administer at home with results available within 10 minutes.
These tests can be used if a person is symptomatic, asymptomatic, or within six days of the onset of symptoms. The tests can be self-administered and are recommended for people 14 years and older. For children 2 to 13 years old, this COVID-19 test must be performed by an adult.
Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Centers will host “drive-through pick-up days” for free at-home COVID-19 testing and N95 masks. The Bellaire site will offer testing on Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. and East Jordan will offer testing on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m.
Home testing kits will be available while supplies last and are limited to two kits per person per week. The purpose of these tests is to provide access to testing in communities and is not intended to meet employer testing requirements.
