Central Rock Gym, 55 Chicago St., is kicking off special events from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday with a $5 discount on a day pass for rock climbing and free rental equipment as long as it lasts. Unlike the other events below, the discount is exclusive to Hallmark members.
The zoo, 300 Parkside Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday during the winter. Next week it will also be open at the same times on Mondays.
“Not many people are willing to brave the cold and snow to get outside, but many of our animals are very active in the winter and in the snow,” said Jackie Levinson, School Programs Team Leader. “Our polar bears, for example, love this time of year. They often swim in their pools in the dead of winter, in the middle of a snowstorm, without any worries.
