Greater Lawrence Family Health Center comedy show In Pink raises $50,000 for women’s health

After more than a year of work during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center took time out with friends and well-wishers to laugh and relax during the 11th annual In Pink Comedy Show last Thursday, in line.

In Pink has raised nearly $50,000 for women’s health programs. Headlining comedian Judy Carter was joined by friends Drs. Lynette Charity and Shelby Lane. The medical practitioners are also comedians and have helped bring laughs during the night.

“You have been stressed and I know how stressed you have been. “So what can you do about it?” You can LAUGH,” Carter joked.

The event also honors inspiring people who give selflessly to those in need. Four members of Borislow Insurance have received the Rosalyn Kempton Wood Award for Inspirational Leadership. The award honors the memory of Wood, a longtime friend of the health center whose generosity enabled women in need to receive basic and essential health care throughout the Merrimack Valley.

The 2021 award was presented to Jen Borislow, Melissa Marrama, Judy Tomeo and Collette Turgeon. Each has given to those in need during the pandemic in countless ways, including mobilizing teams to provide resources for the homeless and providing frontline healthcare workers with thousands of sandwiches, hot meals, fresh fruit bowls, personal protective equipment, care baskets and inspirational messages. .

“These women have been exemplary,” said Center de santé President and CEO Guy Fish. “Rather than sitting back and watching COVID-19 take lives, they each found a way to give back to the community and help others,” Fish added.

MP Lori Trahan, keynote speaker, highlighted the important role community health centers play in their regions.

“Like all of you, I am reminded every year how important En rose fundraising is to our community,” Trahan said. “By supporting the incredible work of the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, In Pink is helping so many women.”
