Ilyana Capellan of Studio 17 is joined by the Turner family, co-pastors John and Bonnie Turner, and their daughter Tiffany Turner, to discuss Blessing Corner’s plans to help everyone in the community celebrate Thanksgiving.
In 1998, the Turners realized that the supplies and products the Blessing Corner was giving out were going to people who didn’t have homes to prepare food for, so they did something about it. “We expanded our personal family table and we had about 12 guests and a good number of them were homeless and since then it’s only gotten bigger,” Bonnie Turner said.
They believe it is the responsibility of the church to help those in need, and with the help of community members they are able to donate a Thanksgiving meal not only to the homeless but also to the elderly.
Blessing Corner will be making deliveries to seniors on Wednesdays. On November 24 in the afternoon from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, they will serve Thanksgiving meals at Blessing Corner, located at 101 Union Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., it will be a drive-up and walk-up event.
Blessing Corner could still use more volunteers for this week’s events, to get involved and for more information visit their website or call 661-861-0349.
